Henderson Fire & Rescue
I would like to personally thank the Council, Mayor, City Manager and Citizens of Henderson for the opportunity to lead Henderson Fire Department as your Fire Chief. I have been a member of the Henderson Fire/Rescue Department for 20 plus years; and still get as excited to be a part of and lead this great team as I did on my very first day.
As you may imagine, over the years, I have witnessed many changes in our Community--and subsequently, to this organization. But the one thing that has remained constant is HFD’s unwavering dedication and commitment to serve our Community. As Fire Chief, I have the privilege to work along some of the most talented individuals in our field. I have witnessed our firefighters perform countless heroic deeds and acts of kindness; I am proud every time to see these great things happening.
Our promise to the Citizens of Henderson, TX: We strive to maintain a high level of service and to stay prepared to respond day or night; and to always serve with the highest level of compassion, respect and professionalism.
Sincerely,
Fire Chief Sonny Ybarra

In 1916, the City's first paid firefighters were hired and the Department has continued to grow. We now utilize 20 full time firefighters, 1 Fire Chief, 1 Assistant Fire Chief and 20 volunteer firefighters. HFD also commands eight vehicles; which include fire engines, a ladder truck, brush truck and tanker.
Henderson Fire Department is currently rated a Class 2 by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) and its Public Protection Classification program.
